The sauna is open!

We've built a sauna for relaxing at the end of the day.
When we arrived here in 2018 it was hard to see through the head-high brambles and nettles in the garden that there was some kind of structure hiding away at the top of the garden. A few days strimming and chainsawing later and the old chicken hutch and garden shed became visible. Pretty manky it was too but a new roof, an internal dividing wall (to separate the planned shower and toilet from the sauna}, thirty square metres of insulation salvaged from an abandoned factory nestling in the nearby hills (see another blog post) as well as a bit of carpentry and a wood burning stove and we have a sauna.
In keeping with our sustainability aspirations, the wood for the benches came from a tree felled 40 metres from the sauna and sawn into planks in a neighbour's garden.
It's the ideal way to achieve muscle relaxation and elimination of lactic acid build up after a hard day in the saddle or clambering around on foot in the mountains.
